Outdoor fitness park to open at Sharjah's Flag Island this month

A new outdoor fitness park is set to open on Flag Island by mid-October, it has been announced.

The new equipment can be used by adults as well as supervised children, and has been added in a bid to get the UAE more active.

Six different types of apparatus will be available for use, including a rope climb tower, monkey bars, stall bars, parallel bars, pull-up bars and finally balance beams.

The Calisthenics Park is free, but can only be used by children who are aged eight or above.

Flag Island offers up a number of exercise-based activities for adults and children already, including weekly roller-skating lessons between 6pm and 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Women can also take part in a running, jogging or walking session between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Tuesdays.

Khuloud Salim Al Junaibi, general manager of The Flag Island, said, “There are specialised as well as general activities for children, families, individuals at TFI and we invite all members of the community to take advantage of the many opportunities available.

“It is in line with our vision to encourage all members of the community to get involved in a physical activity of their choice to improve their health while having some fun outdoors.”
