Here at Time Out, there’s nothing we love more than going on a huge adventure – and at 1,934m above sea level, Jebel Jais is a pretty big one.
From hiking to ziplining, the UAE’s highest mountain has plenty to offer, and at 10C cooler than everywhere else, it’s the perfect way to enjoy proper winter weather without an expensive flight.
While the view from the top itself is incredible (and perfect for Instagram shots), Jebel Jais is also home to the world’s longest zipline.
You can fly through the sky at speeds of upto 150 kph, travelling 2.8 km – the equivalent of 28 football pitches – for just Dhs250.
If that wasn’t enough for you, you can also explore the area and the towering Hajar mountains on the Jais Sky Tour.
The tour is slower paced, with an average speed of 60 kph, and covers 5 km through a series of seven ziplines.
As a reward for your bravery, you’ll also get to walk along the UAE’s highest sky bridge which lies 1,250 m above sea level and is only accessible via zipline.
The ziplines tour will set you back Dhs150, but you can also buy a combined ticket with the Jebel Jais Flight for Dhs300.
If that’s not your cup of tea, you can also tackle the 8.6 km intermediate hiking trail which gives you a glimpse into the mountain ecosystem with stunning vistas and mountain goats and donkeys.
And if you’re looking for something to do with the kids, or just to take in the stunning scenery, stop by the viewing deck park which has food trucks, a kids playground and binoculars to soak in the mountain views.
