Bait Al Naboodah Museum
See how families used to live in the pre-oil era
Time Out Says
Ever wondered how the prosperous pearling families of the 19th century lived? Take a trip back in time in this two-storey house, built in 1845 with walls made of coral, which was once home to prominent pearl merchant Obaid bin Eissa Bin Ali Al Shamsi and his three wives and children. It became a museum in 1995, allowing visitors to get a glimpse of this important lifestyle and see wonderful examples of traditional Gulf architecture in an age before air conditioning.
