A new exhibition at the Maraya Art Centre which showcases the work of recent graduates from the College of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Sharjah has opened.
The works of five alumni, which focus on issues surrounding home, domesticity, place and identity, are on display at the free display.
Entitled Be(Longing), parts of the showcase explore observations on the expat culture across the UAE, while others feature personal diary entries and playful reconstructions of childhood toys and household items.
Nava Rizvi, from Pakistan, Dania Al Tamimi, from Iraq, Athoub Albusaily, from Kuwait, Alexis Javero from the Phillipines and Doha Abuelezz from Egypt are the artists featured in the show.
The works were curated by Tor Seidel and Shaikha Al Mazrou who work at the College of Fine Arts and Design.
