Schools in Sharjah to extend distance learning by two weeks

Private schools in Sharjah have been told to continue distance learning for a further two weeks.

Pupils in the emirate were due to return to school on Sunday September 13, but The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) has announced a new return date of Thursday September 24.

The move is part of the precautionary measures applied by the government to limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pupils in all year groups who are registered at private schools in the Emirate of Sharjah have been studying remotely since the official start of the 2020/2021 academic year and were due to return next week.

However to ensure the safety of students and teaching staff it has been decided to postpone in-class face-to-face teaching and learning for a further fortnight.
