Sharjah suspends parking fees until further notice

Sharjah City Municipality has suspended all public parking fees until further notice, it has been announced.

The decision, which came into force yesterday (March 23), is part of precautionary measures to preserve public health and safety.

In a statement on Instagram, the municipality said, “The municipality calls upon motorists to adhere to the parking rules and regulations, as the parking inspectors will monitor any misuse of parking spaces such as double parking, preventing others from using the parking spaces, hence causing a negative impact on traffic.”

Sharjah has taken a number of precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in recent weeks.

The UAE has closed all shopping malls and supermarkets, and restaurants are now delivery or takeaway only.

Beaches, parks, gyms and cinemas have also been closed.

Plus, all inbound and outbound passenger flights have been suspended for two weeks.
